India steps up industrial corridor push to build resilient chemical supply chains
B910化工消息:7 Yue 5 Ri Xiao Xi, India is accelerating its industrial corridor development strategy to build resilient chemical supply chains as the global chemical industry enters a transformative phase. The initiative focuses on creating world-class chemical parks and integrated industrial infrastructure along key industrial corridors.
The chemical industry is entering a transformative phase where supply chains must evolve beyond efficiency to become resilient, according to industry analysis. India push to strengthen its chemical supply chains comes amid growing geopolitical uncertainties and supply chain disruptions that have highlighted the need for domestic manufacturing capabilities.
The Indian government has been promoting several dedicated chemical manufacturing corridors and petrochemical clusters across the country. These corridors are designed to provide integrated infrastructure including pipelines, ports, power, and logistics facilities to attract both domestic and international chemical companies.
Key chemical corridor projects include the Gujarat PCPIR (Petroleum, Chemicals and Petrochemicals Investment Region), the Andhra Pradesh PCPIR, and the Cuddalore PCPIR in Tamil Nadu. These projects aim to create self-contained industrial ecosystems with shared infrastructure and utilities.
The push for resilient supply chains is particularly relevant for critical chemical inputs including specialty chemicals, pharmaceutical intermediates, and agrochemicals. India aims to reduce its dependence on imports from China and other countries for these strategic materials.
Industry experts note that India chemical sector is expected to reach $300 billion by 2030, driven by government initiatives including Make in India and the National Chemical Policy. The industrial corridor development is expected to play a crucial role in achieving this growth target while ensuring supply chain security.
